Deception as a Tool
Setting a narrative that allows you to control the perception of others towards you, is essential to your outer ring of security. To a certain degree, it is a must. Weather its a well crafted illusion to make a soft target seem stronger or a strong target seem softer, both have a place and purpose. One such reason is to blend in to your environment, to set the baseline so that you don’t call undue attention to yourself while on a casual shopping trip, a weekend getaway or a Sunday worship service. It gives those around you a level of comfort to see nothing different in you, than the rest of the populace around you.
With proper situational awareness, it gives you the upper hand in your reactionary time, if but by a fraction of a second sometimes. That means more time to choose between good and bad options and sometimes between bad and worse options. The more time you have to choose, the better your option choices are.
hidden assets, such as a well placed tracker, like the one on my grandaughter below or on a high price piece of equipment can mean the differance between a quick recovery or perminannt loss. don't procrastinate, take the time, do the research, find the product that works for your situation and do it now, instead of kicking yourself down the road. an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Some deceptive tools can be a decoy, a disguise or even a cleverly crafted narrative, several years ago a gay couple traveling in Mexico went viral because of a meltdown they had while interacting with a cartel check point. The couple essentially begged for their lives while crying frantically in a high pitch manic state. The whole thing was caught on video and somehow made it onto social media. This prompted the masses to comment on the foolishness of it all but I had a completely different take on this whole situation.
Maybe they faked there response or exaggerated it to get out of a tight spot but weather they where sincere or putting on a show that gained the sympathies of profesional killers, is irrelevant. The point is, the two men escaped with ttheir lives and in my book, that’s a win ! Deception as a tactic is used effectively all the time by bad actors wanting to take advantage of the innocent and gullible. It’s time you learn to speak that language so that you can discern it, defend against it and use it yourself as a means to gain the upper hand.
